Asteroid Toss
OBJECTIVE: Teams of astronauts work together to pass “space cargo” (bean bags or soft foam balls) farther and farther apart without letting it crash to the planet below.
MATERIALS NEEDEED:
1 bean bag per pair (these are your space supplies)
Cones or floor markers (optional)
SET-UP STEPS:
Pair students up into Astronaut Teams (2 per team).
Each pair starts 2–3 giant steps apart, facing each other.
Give each pair one bean bag.
Designate a Mission Control Line (starting line).
HOW TO PLAY:
One astronaut gently launches the bean bag to their partner.
If the catch is successful:
Both astronauts take one big step backward.
If the bean bag is dropped:
The team moves one step forward and tries again.
Continue tossing and backing up after each successful catch.
The goal is to become the team that reaches Deep Space (the farthest distance apart while still catching successfully).
